What does “Gani” mean?

From Hebrew origins it means “my garden”

What does Gani Table offer?

Gani Table connects home based chef’s (who legally operate their food production from their home meeting the same standards that restaurants have to meet when it comes to food safety) with consumers who desire plant based meals that are convenient and reasonably priced

How can a chef operate out of his/her home kitchen legally?

In 2018, the California state legislature and governor passed a law permitting home based kitchens or also knows as microenterprise home kitchens; the law provides that as of January 1, 2019, home based chef’s can start producing food out of their home kitchens after meeting strict criteria; see AB 626

How can I ensure the home based chef operates under restaurant standards when it comes to cleanliness?

All of our chefs have to go through the same rigorous training as a restaurant chef when it comes to food safety. They must obtain a California Food Handler Card through ANSI which is an accredited and verified food safety institution. All home based kitchens are subject to the same inspections by the county health department as well as Gani Table management. (Please refer to our Food & Safety tab for more info).

Can I order food through the Gani Table app from wherever I am?

Our app connects you to a chef in your geographic region however Gani Table will begin operating in San Bernardino Riverside Counties to begin with and will be expanding into other California counties as time progresses and as counties enact statutes and guidelines for permitting a microenterprise home kitchen

How do I obtain my food?

Our powerful app connects you with a third party food delivery service or you have the option (to save some money on delivery) of picking up your order from the chef’s home or kitchen location at curbside. Our app will let the chef know of your location in real time and he or she will bring it out to you so you don’t even have to get out of your vehicle.

How easy is it to use the app?

Our app is very user friendly for both Apple and Android phones. We also have a website that you may use to order your food. The app has more features such as GPS integration so the chef knows your estimated time of arrival for curbside pickup. You can easily use the website to order food and have it delivered through the third party food delivery service.

What if I have a complaint with my order?

Your 100% satisfaction is our goal at Gani Table. Having delicious fresh food at reasonable price would definitely be satisfying to us. In addition to your ability to rate each chef on their food, we have a customer care line and an e-mail line for you to lodge your complaints and our staff will address the problem and resolve the issue.

What is our cancellation policy?

For Gani Table orders that are placed for immediate pick-up or delivery, there will be a 10 minute window for you to cancel your order and receive a full refund. The “cancel order” feature is on the app and website. For meal orders that are recurring or part of a meal plan, changes or cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to the time of the pick-up or delivery to receive a credit or refund towards the purchase. If there are other issues with ordering, our customer service line will be available for immediate support during business hours.

Will the meal be delivered fresh?

All food produced by Gani Table chefs are made to order. Prepping the ingredients may occur prior to the day of cooking but all completed orders will have been cooked for that day’s pick-up or delivery. Our chefs prepare your order only after you place it, which means food is sourced, cooked, and packaged same-day and fresh. When you receive your order, it will be packaged hot and ready to eat. We use packaging that will insulate hot or cold food as best possible.

Do I have to be a professionally trained chef or sous chef to cook for Gani Table?

No, not all Gani Table chefs are professionally trained or have restaurant experience. Gani Table gives the individual who has had experience cooking great tasting plant based meals the opportunity to bring their product to market. The chef’s food should be tested by peers before being launched onto the Gani Table platform. The consumer rates the chef’s food just as they would for a restaurant. Have negative or low ratings will hurt the chef’s future sales if their product fails to satisfy the consumer.

Do I have to create a vast menu to be a Gani Table chef?

No, we understand that you’re operating a home based kitchen which means you you have limited resources and space to cook your menu items. The chef who wants to maximize their potential will have a complete menu to choose from, i.e. appetizers, entree & dessert. A few items for the entree to select from will definitely be more appealing to the consumer who would like to try various dishes from you.

Do I have to have business experience to operate my home based kitchen?

No, we understand that not everyone has capital to start their own restaurant, nor do they possess the business skills to operate a food enterprise when it comes to collecting money from the consumer, dealing with the health department and obtaining the necessary licenses to operate. Gani Table makes it easy for you. By signing on as a Gani Table chef, we will prompt you for the information needed to submit the applications to all the governmental entities to start your business. Our initiation fee allows you to get started with your business so you can focus on cooking.

What do I have to pay Gani Table for this service?

Gani Table charges an initiation fee which will cover your: 1) yearly general liability insurance, 2) seller’s permit fee, 3) health department filing fee, 4) local city or county business license fee, 5) food handler’s managers certificate fee, 6) as well as a Gani Table starter kit which will include your apron, food packaging materials and food safety products. In addition to the initiation fee, Gani Table will retain a 15% fee from each order to cover administration and marketing costs.
