Food Safety

Your safety is our greatest concern!

You are safe

Have you ever walked to a restaurant and saw a rectangle card with a letter “A” on the glass storefront? Most of you wouldn’t think twice about it because an “A” always signifies excellence. When it comes to food safety, that grade A card is vitally important to the consumer because a restaurant must pass the test with the Department of Environmental Health in its county. Only if the restaurant meets all the requirements set by the Department will they receive this designation.

In 2018, California state law passed a new bill to the California Retail Food Code titled “Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operation”, which allows home-based cooks to operate a business from their own kitchen.  Effective as of January 2019, selling home-cooked meals to the general public has become a new enterprise for many individuals.  Since food safety is crucial to calm the fears of prospective consumers, the long debate over this bill was centered around food safety enforcements.  See AB 626.

With enforcements in place, the consumer can rest assured that the home-based chef will face the same rigorous food safety tests as any restaurant, from food handling certifications to surprise inspections of their home kitchen by local officials.  In addition, Gani Table will impose its own inspections on a more frequent basis to ensure you, the consumer, will obtain the highest quality of food with the strictest standard of food handling.

All of our home-based chefs rely on their ratings to promote their business, so it’s in their best interest to produce quality food, as well as Gani Table’s interest to retain them as chefs.  Your safety is our greatest concern!
